How to Join a Zoom Meeting

Zoom Frequently Asked Questions:

What is Zoom?

Zoom is a video conferencing tool that's free for meeting participants. It allows you to join a meeting and use your camera and microphone to interact with other meeting participants.

Is it complicated to use?

No! We chose Zoom because it's one of the simplest video conferencing tools available.

Do I have to download or install anything?

Yes! The first time you use Zoom, you'll have to install the Zoom application on your phone, tablet, or computer. It's very easy to do. You can install the application in advance, but you won't be able to join a meeting until it starts. If you've joined a Zoom meeting before you usually won't have to re-install the Zoom client - it should already be on your phone, tablet, or computer. If you're planning on joining a Zoom meeting and haven't installed the Zoom application, please install it a few minutes before the meeting begins. Watch the video instructions in the links below.

How do I install the Zoom application?

Click on the meeting link, and you'll go to the download page. The download should start automatically.

Can I use Zoom on my smartphone or tablet?

Yes! Go the App Store or Google Play and search for 'Zoom'. Install it as you would any other application. When the meeting starts, click on the link to launch the app, or enter the meeting ID in the Zoom application, if you have it open.

What if I don't want someone to see or hear me?

You can turn off your video camera, microphone, or both at any time.

What if I'm late for a meeting?

The meeting organizer may allow participants to join a meeting that's already in progress.

Can I join from anywhere?

Yes! You can be anywhere in the world where you have an internet connection.

Do I have to have a password to join a meeting?

Most meetings may require a password. If a password is required, it will be listed along with the meeting ID.

Can I use Zoom if I don't have WiFi?

You can, but video conferencing can use a lot of data, so WiFi is recommended.
